Summer Session Discussions
For summer 2012 Lutz initiated a never-before tried program in conjunction with the California College of the Arts Learning Assistance Center entitled MEMORY and RECOLLECTION: Group Study Sessions for Art History and Critical Studies. Students met with her one to three times per week in small groups of 4 students each session. The sessions were extremely helpful for students that are still learning English, but all students benefited from each others' input, help and feedback throughout the term. The sessions involved sharing what they learned in class, unpacking content and theory, reading out-loud and discussing weekly readings and brainstorming for midterm and final projects.Through the consistent sessions students were able to accelerate their learning and improve their grades in addition to gaining a sophisticated and nuanced understanding of the course content.
